RTV SPM Moving Parameters to a different group standard

With Shared Parameter Manager you can easily Move a Shared Parameter from one group to another group within the same Shared Parameter file.  The need to do this may occur for example when importing Parameters from a Revit Project or Family into a proper parameter group as by default they will be assigned to the group ‘Imported from Project’ or ‘Imported from family’. You can select individual parameters to be moved or you can select multiple parameters to be moved by selecting them from the Data Grid then click the Edit button from the Ribbon. Select the correct Group from the drop down list that you want to move them to and click OK.  If you want to create a ...

RTV SPM Creating a New Shared Parameter standard

Creating new shared parameters has been made a lot easier by doing so within Shared Parameter Manager instead of within Revit itself. As a result any new parameters created will be added to the actual Shared Parameter File itself to update it and then continue to be monitored by Shared Parameter Manager. To create a New Shared Parameter you must actively click into the Data grid to select any parameter row first and then click the New button on the Shared Parameter Tab of the Ribbon. SPF Name: Select the required Shared Parameter File to be modified from the drop down list Name: Enter a Parameter Name. Group: Either select an existing group to be used from the drop down ...

RTV SPM Editing a Shared Parameter standard

You can easily edit any existing Shared Parameter being managed within the SPM  SQL database at any time.  You can either edit individual Parameters as required or you can edit multiple parameters at the same time to effect the same change for each of them. To do so select the required parameter(s) from the data grid then click the Edit button from the Shared Parameter Tab of the Ribbon. SPF Name: Select the required Shared Parameter File to be modified from the drop down list Name: If editing a Single Parameter you can enter a new name if required.  When editing Multiple Parameters the Name field will be greyed out. RTV SPM Exporting Shared Parameters standard

With Shared Parameter Manager you can easily export any of the managed Shared Parameters from the SQL database to create a new Shared Parameter File (.txt) if required. To do so select the required Shared parameters to be exported from the Data Grid then click the Export To button from the Shared Parameter Tab of the Ribbon. Browse to the location on your network where the Shared Parameter text file (.txt) is to be saved and enter a File name. If you were to then open the .txt file created you will of course see all the parameters contained within, which of course can then be used by your Revit Application as required.

RTV SPM Deleting a Parameter standard

There will no doubt be situations where you will need the ability to remove / delete selected Shared Parameters Managed by SPM. It is important to note however that deleting selected parameters from within SPM will only remove the parameter(s) from the SPM SQL database – it does not actually delete anything from the Shared Parameter.txt file itself. To do that you would need to either do it from within Revit natively or by modifying the .txt file directly using notepad for example. To do so select the required Parameter(s) from the main data grid to be deleted from the SPM SQL database then click the Delete Button from the Shared Parameter tab of the Ribbon. As stated above this ...

RTV SPM Managing Project Parameters standard

Binding is the term used to describe the process of a Shared Parameter that is ‘bound’ to a Revit Project File which you have no doubt done many times within Revit natively. This occurs when you create user defined Project Parameters based on a preconfigured Shared Parameter File. Selected Shared parameters are used to form the basis of a Project Parameter so long as the following properties have already been defined in the Shared Parameter first; Group parameter under – The heading that the parameters are grouped by within the Revit Properties palette Instance or Type – define if the project parameter is Instance or Type based Categories –The category(s) associated with the project parameter When a Shared Parameter Managed ...

RTV SPM Add Parameter Binding to selected Shared Parameters standard

Binding is the term used to describe the process of a Shared Parameter that is ‘bound’ to a Revit Project File which you have no doubt done many times within Revit natively. This occurs when you create user defined Project Parameters based on a preconfigured Shared Parameter File. Creating these Project Parameters natively in Revit can be a laborious exercise if you are needing to create numerous parameters as you must create them one at a time. This process is made a lot easier and faster using Shared Parameter Manager as you can create multiple Project Parameter bindings at the same time using the Shared Parameters Manager. If there are already ‘bound’ project parameters present in the currently open Revit ...

RTV SPM Remove Parameter binding for selected Shared Parameters standard

Removing Project Parameter Binding is just as easy with SPM as it is to add the parameter binding in the first place.  You can select individual parameters to be removed or multiple parameters at the same time by selecting as required from the data grid. If there are already bound project parameters present in the open Revit Project File then you will see them appear ‘BOLD‘ in the SPM data grid so you can graphically identify which parameters are already bound to your open Revit project in order to remove them. To remove the required Shared Parameter(s) binding select from the main data grid as required and click the Remove Binding button from the Project Parameters tab of the ribbon. ...

RTV SPM Replace Parameter binding for selected Shared Parameters standard

This option is designed to allow you to remove any existing binding between a Project Parameter and a Shared Parameter then replace with a new binding between required Project Parameter and Shared parameter in the currently open Revit Project file. If doing this process it is likely that The Project Parameter in the existing Revit project to be replaced will also contain related parameter data in the Revit Database. As such if you simply just delete the Parameter then you will also delete any associated data out of the model with it. For this reason the Replace Parameter Binding tool in SPM will create the new replacement Project Parameter Binding first, pull through the ‘data values’ from the old parameter ...
